I need to write one thing (with a deadline in early August), I want to write one more thing (no deadline but I had inspiration a while ago, did some research, there it stalled with my little list of rabbit-hole droppings) and I have no energy at all. Possibly it's the weather.

Something that's been on my mind a lot is this comment from W. Somerset Maugham about the person on whom he based #TheLotusEater (a story I've been thinking of a lot, given the current climate and AI scenarios):

For twenty years he amused himself with thinking what he would write when he really got down to it, and for another twenty with what he would have written if the fates had been kinder.

My immediate thought is the Pooh gang:

Winnie has an unusual addiction problem and is of low IQ. He is friendly and gregarious but prone to go berserk at inopportune times.

Tigger is obviously a cocaine user with a hidden past. He was in a relationship with Kanga but that has cooled.

Piglet is a lovely little coward in a relationship with Winnie, who frequently pushes him into spying for the team.

Eeyore kills without remorse while lamenting his life, leaving white roses on the bodies of his victims – if there aren't too many. He's often running out of roses.

Kanga is the explosives expert from Australia with a chip on her shoulder and a bomb in her pouch, trying to keep her son in check. Fancies Pooh.

Owl is the brains back at HQ, which makes everybody happy as he is not exactly brainy. His absence makes their hearts grow fonder.

Rabbit is the OCD mission planner, quick to anger when his carefully laid plans go off the rails, as they often do when Pooh goes berserk, Kanga blows too many things up, or Eeyore kills the wrong people – ALL of them.

The terrifying part is the whole "on a bad day, I lie in bed and think of things that might have been" part. Have to finish things to have people properly engage with them.

A man is angle grinding the perimeter wall of our property and cutting through the electric fence. He's not responding to my attempts to get his attention.

Either this is very bold daylight robbery (I mean...not impossible in this area) or our trustees once again forgot to tell us about maintenance work.🤔

No way I'm getting writing done now! Combination of generator, angle grinder and stranger looking over my wall is a bit much 😐
