Randomly found that is a thing while browsing for some (as you do) so I might try to remember this is a thing and join in on occasion. If you're ever on the Greek island of (as we were in 2020) and if you're near the 2nd century CE Odeon (a small ) in Kos town, then just off to one side, behind the rows of seating, there is a complete floor to admire. Female gladiators in ancient Rome – referred to by modern-day scholars as gladiatrix – may have been uncommon but they did exist. Evidence suggests that a number of women participated in the public games of Rome even though this practice was often criticized by Roman writers and attempts were made to regulate it through legislation.
