Usually, I don’t comment on people’s typos on social media.

However, in a hair group for wavy and curly folk, someone commented on wearing “space bums” in their hair, and I thought that was one of the cutest typos ever, and I had to let them know. 🚀

Morning everyone! Had a particularly late night last night, yikes. I'm not sure how much use I'll be able to make of the peace and quiet I get during work hours. Nevertheless! We shall caffeinate and attempt.

Today it's raining really hard and I'm in the garage with the door wide open so I can hear the rain while I pack a suitcase for a friend.

She's got a bunch of stuff in storage, and somebody's travelling in her direction. We're taking the chance to get some of this stuff to her.

We've got a sort of stop-motion animation of whatsapp messages going as I send her photos of the suitcase gradually filling up, and she tells me what to add and what to leave out via text 😅

And every now and then I weigh the suitcase because it has to be under 20kg...

I"m supposed to be marking student work but this is so much more fun...

Another thing I'm learning here at #Mastodon is how to multicapitalize hashtags for screen readers. Thus some of my favorite Twitter hashtags are now #AmEditing, #AmProcrastinating, #MSMFail, #NBCFail, #GOPFail, #ToryFail, etc.

Need to work on my #Barry #PostFix #ByteBeat #web #audio #LiveCoding #interpreter because the current #TypeSystem is annoyment. Specifically mixing different types throws compile errors instead of promoting (like C and similar languages do).

Basically I want binary operations on integral types to get as big as the biggest but no bigger, mixed #signed / #unsigned becomes signed, floats get bigger, mixed #int / #float becomes float for most operations (eg `+`, `*`) but int for `|` `&` `^`.

But I maybe want numeric literals to automagically take their type from the context instead of being i64 or f64 depending on if they have a decimal point, but then what do I do for ops with two literals. Too complicated probably, at least for a first pass.

So the compile time behaviour of the operations should automatically insert additional casts/swaps as needed, as a sequence of low level primops in the #dsp chain to avoid bloating the compiled runtime with a zillion combinations.

Thinking how to actually implement it, it may be tricky...
