What a day. I learned how to create a Google Doc that paginates on an iPad and can be shared by the link alone and is private online, no ability to share, print, or download. And the agent could open it, and it met her request (I'm pretty sure...)

Much of writing is cutting. You pare, chop, dice, and scramble the words until you like the way they sound.

Sometimes, though, you find them the first time. I love this paragraph; I haven't changed it in three drafts now.

This is just an experiment in typography from my novel Of Children and Cutthroats (out for querying). Design's not my forte, so I won't be offended by advice.

Yesterday, cut about 1200 words, got about 400 words into the replacement. It's a tricky beat, and what I had was rambling because it missed the point. I think the replacement is a bit front-heavy on Context and Complication before the actual Crisis. (Everyone says don't over-edit the first draft. It's bad, though, and doesn't deserve to live.)
