Jo: I can't tell Ellis I'm happy for him. How can I when it would be a lie. He's found his people; bully for him. Don't get me wrong. I don't begrudge him for it, but it's a total head fuck. I mean, who wants to be made vulnerable in that way? Look what happened because of it.
It's better to steer clear of all that relationship crap. I only have to worry about me and I prefer it that way.

Jack: I don't want to see the future. Not my future anyway. What if... nah, no way. It's too much. I know what I want the future to look like, but wishing it and having it are two different things. Maybe everything turns out perfectly for us. If it doesn't, then I suppose I'll deal with it then. All we have is right now and that has to be enough, doesn't it?

I’ve done both. I’ve been unsuccessful selling my short stories & I wonder if this is because I feel more comfortable with the longer form? It’s odd because I was quite at home writing short articles (many of them 1200–1800 words) in my non-fiction career. Even won a few awards for them, most recently one under 1400 words.

If I still have the writer superpower, I would told her first and enjoy the situation of seeing her unable to hit me.

Otherwise, I would just hide and try my best to fall into her webs, since I would have hard times if so.

11. What's your top advice to an aspiring writer?

Well I am not very far myself, so I am not sure I can give a very useful advice, except maybe this one: if you feel you need to write, do it! It’s a long process with many ups and downs, but we have only one life!
