#WritingCommunity #amwritingsff Created short story this weekend. Nothing amazing yet, but it was a fun idea and I got to write about a fantasy version of my tiny home town in which was something I've never done. And it breaks a slump, so thats always a bonus.

Dropped the #amwriting hashtag from my following and replaced it with #amwritingsff ... I mean I would follow romance writers and literary writers or whomever... just not poetry. I'm a bad #poetryally I guess. I just can't bring myself to care, and there are SO MANY TOOTS. If I'm gonna be overwhelmed it should be by descriptions of castles and aliens or whatnot.

-The structure is daunting and I’m not sure I can make it work. It’s like if Italo Calvino wrote solar punk

I read an accurate, meticulous, deep and brutally harsh critique of my story. I second guess everything, from the story to my audacity for trying to write it. Despondent, I turn to my favorite mentor. I open #NeverWhere to a random page... and all my friends are here... weak verbs, adverbs, cause and effect... all on the first half of page 329.

Deep breath. Open editor. Get to work.

Yes, there are human feelings and relationships in this one, but they don't exist in a void.
My current WIP has made me learn about "mundane" things like nitrogen and phosphorous in soils, and "important" matters like the collapse of civilizations. And #birds (and bird guano of course). And G2 curve continuity. And how drug addiction feels, and how pension systems work. And echidnas in #NewSouthWales .
