@LucyStag @nonserviammedia Like anything good, "cui bono" applies. The market is the only true meritocracy, assuming salesmanship equals merit. It's the only accurate reflection of the will of the people, assuming one-dollar-one-vote. The market is good in the sense that it works, which is better than most things. Market anarchism (i.e. anarcho-capitalism) is good, if more "realistic" solutions are held to be "better." Being more "realistic," it is probably also a more near-term goal to toy with. I think of the "good" life as starting (if we're lucky) maybe 100 generations from now. #anagorism

Under #capitalism a meadow's only value comes from the exploitation of that land. Under capitalism a river's only value comes from exploitation of the water. Under capitalism a tree only has value when planted (regardless of whether it's done so appropriately) or harvested.

Capitalism is dependent upon exploitation because the root of capitalism lies in the arbitrage of exploitation.

If risk tolerance, ambition, and apparently self-interest are necessary qualities in the ability to found a co-op, then why bother? #anagorism

The biggest lie those in power will tell you is "there isn't enough to just give things to people". We have enough to throw away tons of perfectly fine food every day, more empty housing than homeless people, and ludicrous volumes of perfectly good clothing, white goods and electronics going to landfill.

The problem isn't production, it's profit getting in the way of distribution.
