New #PalliativeCare adjacent question. I traditionally with opioids start low and titrate up based on response. Has anyone ever seen practice of using weight +\- age to estimate the initial starting dose say of oral morphine? Seen recently (not in palliative care) and was a bit suprised

I need help with #analgesia for mouse brain surgeries. PLEASE BOOST!

For a controversy with the veterinary authorities I am searching publications that assess #pain after various craniotomies (injection-only, implants, cranial windows) and also test which analgesic provides sufficient relief. The best ref I know is Cho et al 2019: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-36897-w

It finds that meloxicam 5mg/kg is sufficient, as good as opioids. That's what we see in our lab too.
