The music playing in my art room is usually instrumental, to make space for my own words. I like vibraphone, chillhop, post-rock. But along with conquering the world this summer, Taylor Swift has become an art-room soundtrack with her moody, atmospheric offerings.

Two new works with two stylish ladies from a half-century ago. The charcoal painted background is a found object from an estate sale. I like to think I am giving it new life.
Meanwhile, the abstract gray sky above the woman in pink was a happy accident. I was playing with acrylic gel medium and affixing and peeling different pages. I thought I had what I wanted, then flipped the page over, and on the back was this haphazard, perfect mishmash of textures.
