had a blast at the #AnalogRevolution show last night, as usual. fantastic bands, a great crowd, and so much love on display, even from the antifascist punk band Red Hot Empty who describes their music as "angry, just angry" (spoiler: they aren't angry with you, unless you support fascists).

I reiterate that I am a very lucky old dog to have met this community of folk trying to change the world for the better for everyone. moving here after meeting the crew in the fediverse is one of the very best decisions I've ever made.

But that's not what I want to talk about.

At the first #analogrevolution record store, we ran a LAN intranet that automatically synced via sneakernet with other LAN intranets we operated around town, and provided a message board and some file sharing. It was cute, it was basically a Modern BBS (mBBS) and it was useless, because it only reached my apartment complex, our record store, the concert venue next to our record store, and a couple of places on campus at the nearby college. And it only worked if you were connected to the LAN it ran on, which was unencrypted + did not have internet access.

It's Friday the 13th! And I like to release #music on such days. So here's a new single off of my upcoming album, 51 Miles from Nowhere.

It features @TaxDan on drums, @djsundog on bass, @connor_dylan on keys, and myself on guitar and vocals.

This song is probably 12 years old or so, and I used to perform a version of it with one of my previous bands, Cheap Thrill DeVille. I hope you enjoy this rendition!

@Natris1979 yeah, I work a 9 - 5. I work CA hours, more or less, so my mornings are free, and I get up pretty early, so I get a lot done in the mornings before work.

I've gotten sick every time I've gone there in person.

I don't actually *run* most of these things.

My wife runs the coffee shop. @CaptainUnderpants and @jess and @connor_dylan run the makerspace.

@Looterjennings does a lot of New Ellijay Television, although I'm still pretty hands on there nights/weekends.

@TaxDan helps with #JupitersGhost although I'm still pretty hands on there.

@DoctorDeathray does most of the hard work for #analogrevolution. I'm mostly just there for moral support.

But I started a lot of these things, and I organize the support around them, and I talk a lot.

I could do this all night.

More or less literally.

I probably have 60 or 70 indie bands I could share Just with what's on bandcamp.

But it's overwhelming when there are too many, so I'll post one more and then stop for now.

This is Eli Pop.

We released this album on CD and digitally through a couple of platforms, but the cassette was on Burger.

Obviously Burger was Real Bad, but they also had a particular sound. Lo-fi surfy psychedelic pop.

This is that.

Recorded on a 4track in a bedroom. It's the kind of album that, if it had been released in 1967, would be $200 on the used market with a reissue from A Light in the Attic.

Instead it was released in 2013 or so on #analogrevolution

Now that Burger is no more, we're reissuing the cassette, planning an LP release, and maybe we'll even get a newly recorded LP out of him this year.

Eli is in my top five musicians of all time. This music is wonderful.

I'm going to keep talking about #JupitersGhost for the next few weeks, because I'm excited about it.

I'll slow down towards the end of the month, probably, but I'm still deep in New Shiny.

We have lots of Other stuff happening right now, too. We're releasing new albums through #analogrevolution, there's a new Magazine out soon, we're booking shows, we're planning live Television and pre-recorded television. We're building toys for a toy show in Asheville in Feb, a toy show in Ellijay in late Feb, and a toy show in Atlanta in March.

We're producing several concurrent TV shows, and working on a cartoon We've got comic books going.

And, hopefully, we'll be roasting coffee within the next three weeks.

So, you know, there's a lot of stuff happening and I'll be promoting the hell out of all of it.

This time a release from Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout!! This is one of my own bands, and by far the longest running group I have been in. I formed Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout in high school with @CaptainUnderpants and Sean. We played around the Metro Atlanta area, always in some weird costumes.

Once we built a giant cake from cardboard. It had to have been close to 6 feet tall. We filled it with balloons and destroyed it in the crowd. The last show we played, circa 2013, we rented a generator and played our weird party-punk at an abandoned go-kart track.

It’s a weird band. The music is a sloppy pop-punk, and it’s a weird wave of nostalgia for me. Hurly Burly will be played on January 28th at one of our #AnalogRevolution shows.
