In 2019 #Hindustani vocalist #AnandiBhattacharya was here in #ChapelHill. She told me she needed to go to Asheville to find musicians who played traditional American music for a song she wrote for a PBS documentary. I laughed and said she didn’t need to go to Asheville to find them. Indeed I made a quick call to Hank Smith and Pattie Hopkins, two of the finest traditional musicians in the US. A week later we had the final version of her track.

#TBT Back in 2018 our friend #AnandiBhattacharya was asked to contribute a tune for a PBS documentary. She wanted to be backed by traditional southern musicians. We rounded up two virtuosos— #HankSmith on banjo and Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw on fiddle. I added dobro, along with E Scott Warren on bass and Ed Butler on drums.
Sadly, the documentary ran out of funds and we got stuck eating the recording costs. But we did get a nice track out of it.
