I want to tell you something about anaphylactic shock, in case, like me, you have a severe allergic reaction and don’t recognise it.
It involves a massive, sudden blood pressure drop. You feel weak, sweaty, faint, maybe sleepy or nauseous.
We think anaphylactic shock is about an inability to breathe. That’s not what I experienced, so didn’t realise what was happening in time to get myself emergency care for the most dangerous part - the first 30 minutes or so.
#Bee stings hurt and can give people #AnaphylacticShock resulting in death. Approaching a beehive to extract honey is a perilous process that requires specialized equipment. Beehives are usually kept far away from people’s homes — unless you are a member of a #Maya #beekeeping family living in the #Yucatán peninsula. For generations these families living in the Yucatán peninsula have kept #bees in their homes, sharing the space #harmoniously .

I have a general question for any of you who've done the full-on #AnaphylacticShock thing:
For how long afterward (as in, days, not hours) did you continue to feel like absolute rubbish?
This happened to me on Tuesday, and everything still just... hurts.
