I've got a #book recommendation! Hierarchy in the Forest by Christopher Boehm.

It shows some examples of top-down and bottom-up hierarchy in human and primate societies and how they get maintained. I found it interesting from the perspective of how to maintain egalitarian #anarchist organizations by avoiding certain failure modes.

If you can't afford it and don't have it in your local library definitely don't download it through annas-archive dot org!

We're going down there on Sunday. I am soooo...looking forward to seeing that neigboorhood again. Though I _really_ get anxious from the crowds.

Back in 1996, my ex worked down there, and brought my daughter to work everyday. It's how she got semi-socialized. It used to be my community.

I volunteered at Left Bank Books, the #Anarchist bookstore.

It was a much more intimate, close-knit community back then.

Finished Margaret Killjoy's "A Country of Ghosts" published by the #AKpress Black Dawn Imprint. It read as any fantasy with a focus on character development and world building. I appreciated the imagined #anarchistgovernance model and how characters made decisions and organized roles without relying on titles or professions. It was #antinationalist and focused on collectives of hyper local communities. Also it was so gay 🌈

i think the view that you can't use the tools of a system that you are against but were forced into has fatal consequences.

like if your boss won't pay you, are you (here an anarchist wanting a gift economy) just supposed to accept that without legal actions?

obviously there's still Direct Action, but not everyone has the same access and possibilities, making a position of "never use other methods" quite ableist

the original context was on the topic of AI art, whether an anarchist communist (me) is actually a capitalist (apparently also me) for being against AI models that were trained on art without their artists' consent.
usually i'm against intellectual property, but i'd be fine with using these laws in a capitalist society against corporations that (through AI models) profit off of workers without compensation.

but i'm very much open to other #anarchist (or other) opinions on that topic
