I've really been getting into #retrogaming.

So far I've bought an #anbernic #rg353vs, #rg405v, #rg35xx, and a #miyoominiplus. That's in addition to the #New3DSXL, #GameBoyAdvance, and #GameBoyAdvanceSP I already have. What's really bad is I keep looking at the horizontal #handhelds as well.

I think I might have a problem.

@ajjison You are right, but these days buses and trains have USB sockets, so I always carry a 150cm USB A to C cable.

In all other aspects I totally agree with you: Device convergence is also suspicious to me, a proper optical zoom for the camera is just great and the battery of my iPod Mini (CF card, fresh battery as of 2018 and #Rockbox) is unbeatable.

I was really happy with the #Anbernic RG300, but the #RG3xx is even better. If you do not want to spend too much, go for the #Powkiddy Q90.

¡Hablemos de Retro! ¿Sabias que existen consolas portátiles con Linux para emular las consolas clásicas?

Estas tienen un SO customizado con un Fronted con un menú muy intuitivo donde lista tus ROMs por sistema.

Por lo general usan de base Retroarch con sus diferentes cores y en casos específicos apps standalone (no Retroarch) con mejor rendimiento que los cores de libretro.

Por lo general, estas traen un sistema bastante pobre, y por suerte existen CFW que puedes poner: Amberelec, ArkOS…

Para rematar hay gente muy muy apañada que se encarga de configurar dicha imagen a su gusto, con colecciones personales y configurado todo para que sea “encender y jugar”, haciendo de estas “maquinitas” auténticas joyas.

Accomplished two things things early this afternoon:

1. Plopped in a replacement battery for my Anbernic RG552 after the original one turned into a spicy pillow. The back cover has a small bulge from there the battery had puffed up. I had to use two-sided tape to stick the new battery to the back cover.

It's charging now and hope the replacement one doesn't become another spicy pillow.

2. Replaced the 4 GB Pi 4 that had the flaky Ethernet port with a new 8 GB Pi 4 board that I will be using to play around with Prometheus and Grafana.

I've been thinking about getting one of these game #emulation handhelds, like the #anbernic #rg405m. Does anyone have experience with these? I wanna use it for playing games, obvs. But also possibly a couple other things.

So I'm gonna punt on getting any kind of Saturn emulation today, and got an Anbernic RG35XX to play Genesis games portably/physically (technically I can do that on the Switch Lite, but I won't pay for NTDO's PLUS service, and anyway it's morally wrong to play SEGA on NTDO)

There is an RG505 which seems, maybe, to play Saturn? But it's $$$ and I don't see good reviews yet.

I love all of these #Linux handheld gaming devices by #Retroid, #Miyoo and #Anbernic, but they still don’t beat first-party devices like the #Nintendo Switch and 3DS. Mostly for stability, performance, and online play. Even the retro emulation they offer is top notch.
