The $ is going towards the employee group's legal & other fees associated w/its effort to buy the company. Sapporro bought Anchor Brewing for about $85 million. Even at a 50-75% discount in bankruptcy, $70k isn't going to go far towrds buying the company. LOL!!!

Looks like the $50k is only going towards their legal fees or as is stated in their Go Fund Me page:

"We need the community's help to cover our costs as we explore the possibilities of worker ownership."

The cost of buying the entire company will cost millions but, if the employees can be like Elon & Trump, maybe they can get other people's money to fund the purchase based on taking an equity interest in the restructured company but they'll need access to the company's financials to swing that and Sapporo doesn't seem to want to release them because -- cough, cough -- they are in the midst of bankrupty proceedings.

Christmas in July, I guess. I am at the Anchor brewery, in the Potrero Hill district of SF, arguably the oldest craft brewer in the US, which is shutting down at the end of this month.
