I played for over 600 hours and it is a good game but I can no longer recommend the game to anyone and actually recommend that you avoid the game.

They recently introduced a cash shop with micro transactions at an inflated rate to get the community outrage only to cut the prices massively within 24 hours to look like they listened to the feedback. Classic price and an absolutely scummy tactic. Play something else.

... less than a minute before they're about to hit us. They grudgingly pick up anchor, nearly reversing into us in the process and finally find a more sensible spot in the ample space available.

This is why nobody likes charter boats. It's okay to misjudge it, we all do sometimes. But it's not okay to be an asshole about it. Just pick it up and try again. Maybe even take advice from those who've been living it for years.

This anchorage directly in the approach to Ibiza airport was a bit noisy. Luckily they stop in the night.

Wanted to cross today, but forecast lightning changed our mind, so just going around a corner or three to find a less noisy spot.

Late season crusing in the Med: Shorts, sunglasses and raincoat!

Moved to Cala Addaya for better northerly shelter. Looks like nearly a week of crap weather coming, including a big thunderstorm tonight. Forecasts are very wobbly again, so we'll see.

Last time we were here in 2018 and dragged anchor in 45 knot gusts. Upon retrieving it (difficult in those conditions), we found it had some trousers impaled on it. Rocna don't hold well in trousers.

This is a windlass clutch. It needs simple, regular maintenance: Remove, clean, apply fresh grease.

It's probably the most forgotten part of any cruising boat. Many don't know how to use it or don't even know they have one. It may have seized up two boat owners ago.

It's job is not only doing a fast and efficient gravity drop when anchoring and then paying out chain at variable speed to lay on the ground as the boat drifts back. It is also ...

Replacing our floating anchor strop. The old was pretty getting pretty chafed.

This is attached to the retrieval hole on the front of the fluke. Quite handy for finding a deeply buried anchor, or pulling it out if it's stuck (attach retrieval line to loop with floats).

The floats can be found for free on most beaches. Fishermen seem to lose their gear a lot!

Mr. Rocna at work in the sands of Isola Rossa.

Not a deep set - we didn't back down hard as only light winds were forecast and a pedalboat was right behind us while setting.

The propeller moves quite a lot of water from behind the boat to the front of the boat when pulling back hard to set the anchor. Always be aware of your surroundings! :blobcatfluffpats:

Dragged anchor. It's been a long time since we've last done that, but it can always happen.

Anchor alarm beeps, look at screen, yup dragging, engine on, motor forwards and get a chart up so we can see where the shallows are.

@vaviurka on the helm, me on the bow, taking off the snubber, hauling in the chain. Anchor fouled with trash, a plastic bag and some big stretch band. No wonder it dragged.

Set it again in a different spot and reversed hard to test. All good!

This is what happens when anchoring goes wrong.

No idea what the story here is. I assume a storm hit this big bay, waves building across it and clearing away some boats from the anchorage.

Presumably it was a while ago and they've been picked clean since.

Wind gusting over 30 knots and lots of

One Hallberg- Rassy dragged close to two other boats. The couple aboard struggled holding the boat and picking up the anchor, but eventually got it. After another failed attempt at anchoring, they left.

A charter boat anchored in front of everyone with too little chain and now everyone is nervous, some idling engines, some leaving.

We moved away to the deep side in 17m with 72m of chain out. Less drama, we hope.

From late August onwards, Mediterranean thunderstorms (at sea) prefer to come in the middle of the night and with strong winds.

This makes for exciting times at anchor, as they usually come from a different direction than the prevailing winds, arrive suddenly, and may create large waves in exposed anchorages. Anchors have to rotate quickly and hold in more difficult conditions than owners may have anticipated.

@vaviurka peeked out of the hatch and yelled "Shit! Come!". A boat was within a few metres of us, anchor down, engine on, a person struggling with something on the foredeck. Both boats swinging very close. Not good.

Yelling. Older Spanish lady on her own, but luckily spoke English. Wind gusting up a bit, only understood half, but she had a problem and happily accepted help. Asked @vaviurka to be ready with a fender, jumped in, swam over.

Cont'd...

Our anchor, not that you can see any of it. We've got a floating retrieval line tied to it, which also helps telling where it is when it has buried itself deep.

This wasn't from strong wind or setting it very hard, it's just the bottom here is like chocolate mousse! The anchor falls right through the top layers. Luckily in this case it found something beneath to grab onto.
