@ananth I think you missed the take away at the end. Do some form of #datamodeling first. Kimball’s methology is just one which is apparently something people stick to in the United States. Here in Europe, but also New Zealand and Australia, we moved on (but not necessarily away) to other forms like #datavault, #focal, #anchormodeling (aka #ensemblemodeling or #elm) to name some. Kimball’s original is difficult to maintain and refactor, but there are also variations that mitigate that a bit.
