The Incas built a sophisticated economy where poverty didn't exist. The tribute tax system required a community to give their labor to a state project, not pay in gold. Also, wealth was measured by how big your family was, since a bigger family worked more.
The system was so advanced there were protections for the workers, elderly, diasabled, sick, and "poor" (those with smaller families). And, through it all, Incas had no money, no homelessness, nor hunger☀️🗻

The major indigenist journal Amauta (1926-30) had Indigenous writers in it. Francisco Chukiwanka Ayulo, a Quechua lawyer from Puno, Peru, fought to return Indigenous land back and even created a Quechua-Aymara alphabet. He even had direct bloodline to the Incan nobility. Chukiwanka Ayulo wrote in "Amauta" about the need to support Indigenous peoples and he was a friend of esteemed indigenist José Carlos Mariátegui. #peru #indigenous #inca #native #andean

Yesterday we celebrated the last ones of the year spending the day in collective prayer, catching up with neighbors, and sharing the tastiest of food. My heart is full, my roots have been nourished, and I know my place is here.

They said their label had gone bust, and I think they were selling off the remaining stock of their albums to raise enough money to get back home. They were a group of Aymara Indigenous artists from Bolivia, and their music is #Andean #IndigenousStyle (hashtags for links to some other stuff of the same style).
