It was produced by #Youth and released on 16 June 1997 by #HutRecordings and Virgin Records as the album's lead single. "Bitter Sweet Symphony" is based on a #sample from a 1965 version of the #RollingStones song "#TheLastTime" by the #AndrewOldhamOrchestra. The Verve added strings, guitar, percussion and vocals.
