I wonder, why is the #Tolkien Estate okay with the companies like #Palantir and #Anduril using their names, after many years of suing others for the same thing (e.g. TSR for having hobbits in Dungeons & Dragons)? I wouldn't want to associate Tolkien's legacy with such... controversial entities. This really speaks volumes about their priorities.

Multi-channel flashlights are fun! These are Emisar D2 lights, they use 14500 batteries (AA size). They have one channel that is white and I ordered these with the second channel having a different color emitter: One blue, one green, one red.

Due to the size, these emitters in this light body can come off a bit squarish up close with a clear optic, which makes for some interesting beam interactions.

Even from Aliexpress? They have a direct store, an Aliexpress shop, and you can also sometimes find them on Amazon or other retailers being resold. If you can't find that one, the Sofirn SP10 Pro BLF is also typically inexpensive and small and also has #Anduril and a 3-pin flashing interface.

@foosel @concretedog If you just want to dip your toe into the #Anduril water the Wurkkos TS10 is cheap (~$20 USD) and has flashing pads, a 3-pin UPDI serial interface. There are people on Reddit that sell ready made probes for updating.

@foosel @concretedog The RovyVon is a bit on the high side, but I have a hard time trusting Li-ion devices I carry in pockets as it is, a clone would probably make me even more anxious! That does look like it's a pretty close match though.

If I have a jacket on I usually carry something much bigger, though, like an Emisar D4Sv2 or DW4. For most lights I have been limiting myself to ones that support #Anduril which is an #OpenSource UI firmware for flashlights.
