Jako osoba, której dzieciństwo przypada przede wszystkim na lata 10. odczuwam dość sporą nostalgię do marki Angry Birds, pomimo że od dawien dawna nie śledzę nowych produkcji. Znajomy zachęcił mnie do powrotu do Angry Birds Epic, spin-offu serii będącego próbą przeniesienia znanych bohaterów do gry RPG. Swego czasu była to jedna z ulubionych gier, więc nie mogłem się doczekać ponownego zagrania.

Moje wrażenia są zaskakująco mieszane. Prosta fabułka w głównej kampanii dalej jest całkiem angażująca, a turowy system walki jest odpowiednio satysfakcjonujący – przeciwnicy i lokalizacje są zróżnicowane, zanim gracz się znudzi już dostaje coś nowego, co wprowadza delikatne zmiany w rozgrywce. Gdybym oceniał wyłącznie kampanię, moje wrażenia byłyby równie pozytywne, co za moim pierwszym podejściem lata temu. Jest to jednak tak naprawdę ⅓ i niestety pozostałe ⅔ nie jest już takie dobre. Odblokowana po ukończeniu final bossa jaskinie skrywa 260 kolejnych pojedynków o wyższym poziomie trudności. Niestety, są one strasznie wtórne i nastawione na P2W; grający uczciwie będzie miał olbrzymie problemy z progresem i nie jest to kwestia jego umiejętności. Szkoda bo niektórzy bossowie z dalszych etapów są autentycznie ciekawi, ale są to tylko wyjątki potwierdzające regułę. Trzecim trybem jest Arena, czyli multi – ten tryb nawet nie udaje że nie jest P2W; nie daje też od siebie nic ciekawego w zamian z wyjątkiem dodatkowych klas dla postaci (które są umiarkowanie przydatne dla osób które je wygrają ja Arenie, bo zapewne dysponują już lepszymi).

Pomimo wspomnianych niedogodności nie był to bardzo bolesny powrót – o tym, że gra jest P2W wiedziałem już wtedy, po prostu różowe okulary pozwoliły mi o tym fakcie zapomnieć. Czy polecam spróbowanie swoich sił innym? Raczej nie, osoby niemające nostalgii raczej szybko się tu znudzą lub zniechęcą. Zresztą w sposób oficjalny gra nie jest już dostępna, jak większość klasycznych gier firmy Rovio.

#Youtube is a hellhole. I just bumped into a clip about #DnD #OGL mess and got recommendation for a clip about rise and fall of #AngryBirds which interested me a little. And then got recommendation for a clip about rise and fall of #Blizzard and #Overwatch which I watched because I felt nostalgic for WoW. And then suddenly I started getting incel-facing ads for sexism-ridden "flirting academies" and generating "AI girls". I should just stop engaging with it

This thought just struck me: #mastodon is to the #fediverse as #angrybirds was to the #iphone. The fediverse is the platform that enables mastodon to exist, like iphone is the platform that enabled angrybirds to exist. But the iphone's success isn't exclusive to angrybirds' success.

And if the fediverse is comparable to the iphone in that both are platforms, then all of the anti-meta fedi pact stuff is basically the app approval process.
