Animal Chakras
As someone who has been working with animal reiki and animal chakras since the mid 90s, I found the book to be rather simplistic and generalized to all animal species. The author focuses on cats, horses, and dogs, giving examples of working with these common companion animals. And while the book indicates its an introduction, it see

We often do things to our pets and domestic animals without asking first, because they need care of course! Grooming and fly spray, for instance, are important for the health of horses. Did you know that animals are quite good at communicating their consent to things if we take a little time to establish a way for them to tell us? Here Taz, our rescued feral mare, presses her muzzle gently into Meredith’s hand to say it’s ok to drag a brush through her long tangled mane. If Taz stops pressing, Meredith will stop brushing until Taz lets her know it’s ok to start again by pressing. Meredith took a little extra time to come to this agreement with Taz, using the behavior of face-touching which Taz already knew and liked. It pays off in trust and consent to something that might otherwise feel unpleasant and scary.

Scientist states the most important bit: “I hope our study will remind humankind that there are other creatures with complex social behaviours that have evolved totally independent of us.”
"Whales use ‘phonic lips’ in nose to make loudest sounds of any anima. Researchers solve puzzle of how animal generates enough air flow 1,000 metres under water, where pressure is 100 times that at surface"

I've been teaching animal communication for about 20 years. Well, not exactly teaching, helping workshop participants reclaim this gift. Every child can hear the animals. Then Western culture tries to convince them it's not real. It's real.

I have a class coming up in a couple of weeks. If you're interested, you can check it out here:

Always happy to answer questions.

A few days ago, an animal communication student of mine returned home before finishing her errands because she had a feeling she should.

She discovered her three dogs had gotten into the pantry and were eating a four-pound bag of chocolate-covered raisins.

She rushed them to the vet, where they got the first of
several days of detox treatments.

She said, “I don’t know how I knew to go home.”

“Sure you do,” I said. “You knew to go home because you *heard* them.”

people, is it possible my cat does actual -taking? I know that turn-taking phylogenetically predates language but cats?Really??? She now comes every night to nudge me to go to sleep and goes “meow”, and I go “bla-bla something” in pet-directed speech, and she looks thoughtfully and goes “meow” and I respond and so it goes for 5-6 rounds. I swear we are having a little chat. So weird. Maybe unique to ragdolls?

"What sound does a turtle make?"

Turns out MOST vertebrates do make noise to chat with one another. Awesome new study succinctly summed up by NPR reporter Laurel Wamsley 🐢
