A rhetorical question, as " 99% of clinical trials testing potential AD therapeutics have failed, despite the same therapeutics being successful in preclinical stages where transgenic mice were used."

As the US FDA no longer requires animal testing for new medications/drugs, there is no reason to continue this antiquated and barbaric practice.

In many laboratory settings performing animal research, the animals do suffer, meaning that animal testing can by definition be cruel. Laboratories attempt to mitigate this suffering with the use of pain medications, sedation, and anesthesia.
