Overuse of #antibiotics in #agriculture is thought to be a major driver of the rise in humans of bacterial infections that cannot be treated with antibiotics.

Several countries have banned antibiotics that speed up farm-animal growth. but, globally, antibiotics use in farmed animals is projected to grow 8% between 2020 and 2030.

To get around the rules, manufacturers can just say they are marketing the #drugs to prevent disease.

They call it a "Pig Palace": A new factory farm in Ezhou, China, where 650,000 pigs will be raised on 26 floors and live miserable, short lives in narrow cages so that you can have your bacon. Marking this as "progress" is beyond cynical.
