Walking the same path to work, I would occasionally come across grouse who would spook, try to fly down the side of the hill, but immediately forget how to fly and just plummet into a bush.

When I was living in Crescent Valley (Up the hill in Krestova) I was walking to work one morning and came across a herd of about 30 or 40 elk. It was so cool. I stayed about 100 feet back and just watched. They were beautiful.
One Christmas Day when my sister was still a zookeeper, I accompanied her on her rounds and got licked on the side of the head by Pompey the Giraffe.

I once had to remove a bat from the store I was working at. This was out in Crescent Valley about 12 years ago, give or take. We had the local post office in the store, and a door to outside adjacent to their counter.
Apparently when their driver (Linda, a true sweetheart) was dropping off mail, it flew in and scared the crap out of them. I (young, stupid, not wearing gloves) grabbed a box, managed to guide it to the floor, covered it, slid an old sign under it, then took it up the gravel path to the forest and let it go. It flew off just fine, thankfully. I cringe now, but I'm glad it turned out okay.
