A dear friend, with whom I do not want to argue, just told me they bought a breed dog & now wants another for breeding.
This idea is anathema to me. I worked in a shelter, and witnessed the # of dogs killed every week to make room for new dogs. Literally.Piles.of.Them.

People, I just read an article in the local news and once again my urgent plea to everybody who wants to have pets:
Do NEVER, I mean NEVER get your pets somewhere from a breeder, especially not some shady private one.
If you want a dog, cat, guinea pig, any kind of animal, there are thousands of animals desperately waiting for you in animal shelters! Fur colour and race doesn’t matter, when you can have an feeling animal, that trusts and feels comfortable with you.

If you've ever considered fostering, this is also the time to try. You can take a dog home for a few days to see if it is something you can handle.

What I love best about fostering with BARCS is that the foster family gets to pick the adoptive family from all incoming applications.
