"Ploughing in Nevers," Rosa Bonheur, 1846.

This makes me think of my rural childhood, when our house backed on to farmland. We never cattle pulling the plow, but we did either have grazing cattle or plowed fields. This pic, commissioned by the French government, is a paean to rural agriculture and is a treasured work of art.

3,300 years ago in Egypt, painters depicted birds flying and perching in a marsh; the birds are now identified. Really cool! "Many of the birds depicted are rock pigeons (Columba livia), but there are also images showing a pied kingfisher (Ceryle rudis), a red-backed shrike (Lanius collurio) and a white wagtail (Motacilla alba)." livescience.com/realistic-bird
