I’d seen Shrek before, and I think also Shrek 2. And they’re still great movies, the writing is fab, it’s tightly plotted, music choices are all great and they’re all about an hour and half long.
Shrek the Third feels as bit…less. It’s still well put together, all the familiar characters are there, and I guess it’s a step up from in world building from the last two. But the college town aesthetic felt less well realised than Far Far Away, I’d liked to have more magic and Merlin.
Shrek Forever After. It’s an alternate universe trope. A bit of a rerun of the first two movies. It’s also very gloomy, part of the plot yes, but…still very gloomy.
The “crapsack world” as TV tropes would describe it of Rumpil’s Far Far Away is well realised, surprisingly grim for a children’s movie.
Shrek feels the oldest, and is the most ‘family ogre’ in this movie, and…it kind of saps the magic a bit too much for me. It’s a good enough end to the series, reminding what the series is, how Shrek has changed and changed things, but…I dunno I just felt maybe they could have done something different with the alternate universe trope. There’s potential that they could have shown multiple universes with different outcomes (all terrible, but different) rather than a standard run through of this. #films #animatedfilms #movies #animatedmovies #shrek

Treasure Planet is one of those underappreciated films that I'll always have a personal soft spot for.
It revisited a classic story using a unique approach, but due to several different factors it never received the love it deserved.

On Sunday mornings, I like to watch animated movies, and this morning I'm revisiting a favorite I haven't seen in a while. I love this world, and I don't think it gets the attention it deserves. There's a new Zootopia series on the Disney+, so I wanted to watch the movie again before I start the series (after I finish Hayao Miyazaki's Sherlock Hound). I hope it expands the world of Zootopia even more.

Is #jacques from #findingnemo It's an old story, but this is it's based on an old headcanon where he has in his home an aquarium decoration he uses as a bed. It was made on July 1 2018.
