Can anyone recommend an #anime series that has a focus on exploration in a way similar to that of a #metroidvania? Could be about e.g. exploring ancient ruins, a derelict spaceship, an alien planet, a cave system, etc., and the exploration and the discoveries made while doing so are the major focus of the show.

While fantasy dungeon-diving may qualify, this isn't the same as clearing/looting mostly-nondescript dungeons in stereotypical RPG style.

Watched the first 3 episodes #bocchitherock with @zenmetsu and @davekent this evening. It is super cute, but damn if the social anxiety aspect doesn’t hit close to home. It’s a cute story about girls in a band, and I super recommend the show thus far! #anime #animefan #animerecommendations

« Play it cool guys » is my weekly boost dose of serotonin, it’s SO freaking CUTE and their clumsiness is so relatable to me!

I really wasn’t expecting anything out of it, I even thought it might be boring, but not at all! It’s a much needed breath of fresh air

My only complaints: the episodes are way too short 😭

Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) - [Fantasy]

Inspired by buddhist philosophy, a group of gemstone people fight to defend their home and teacher from beings that appear from the moon to abduct them and turn them into lifeless ornaments.

The weakest gemstone, Phosphophyllite, is unsuited for combat and too lazy for anything else, and so struggles to find a purpose in life.

Bocchi The Rock, with its earnest socially-anxious protagonist, continues to be great. I find myself eagerly awaiting each episode drop. #anime #animerecommendations #BocchiTheRock
