Imagine a twisted parody of Harry Potter where Harry has absolutely no magic but literally has super-strength.

The premise is so ridiculous that it works. If you ever watched "Haven't you heard? I'm Sakamoto", this show has exactly the same vibe.

You won't see anything heart-moving like the power of friendship, or anything. It just makes fun of basically all magic anime and Harry Potter at the same time.

5/5.

I'm a night owl, so I usually do any kind of creative work at night. I like to watch TV during breakfast and early afternoon to jump-start my day. It was probably a mistake to binge watch an anime, knowing I have a lot of work ahead of me, but whatever. Choices were made. I saw the first season of a show called "pet" that was adapted from a manga of the same name. It's 13 episodes and was animated by Geno Studio, which did an episode of Star Wars Visions. Very good stuff. I had put this on my watch list some time ago and finally got around to watching it since I didn't feel like playing any of the movies on my Amazon Prime list. The plot is about these young men who have the ability to alter memories and perceptions. They work for a shady organization simply called "the Company," which is basically a mafia. The story is centered on these guys doing jobs for their bosses even though they're quite reluctant to do so, some more than others. The psychological aspects are portrayed with striking visuals. This was definitely one of those cerebral and kinda weird animes that was interesting to watch, and I liked how it was framed around a mafia like environment. I'd recommend it if you're into mafia stories and psychological manipulation.

The animation is good and there's no stupid fanservice going on, so that's a good start.

However, the whole thing feels like if I'm watching a second season while I missed the entire first season. It feels wrong and in a way, boring.

He's already overpowered because he's the hero who saved the world. He defeats monsters in a single hit, snd meeting his old companions makes me go "huh?"

There's no adventure, its as if all the interesting parts of the Isekai had been already aired.

You know how it feels? It feels like playing Mass Effect 3 without having played 1 and 2.

"Wait, don't shoot, she's with us. Liara, what are you doing here?" to which she responds, "Hello, Shepard." And then meeting Garrus in a later mission, and now you're just trying to identify the previous heroes.

It feels like eating an overcooked meal. It's not that bad, but all the best tastes are replaced with the taste of charcoal.

OK this anime is going from bad to worse.

It's not about a "cheat skill". The protagonist just became handsome. That's the premise. That's ALL the premise.

In this episode... check this out... he happened to take the place of a fashion model. And got free clothes!

And got to touch a girl's boobs.

All the lonely men in the world would be drooling at this scene and fantasizing about being him.

I had moderate hopes that the plot would somehow improve, but no. This show is just a male fantasy, plain and simple.

Stay. Away.

I watched a bit of season 1, but I think I finally got what this is about.

It's all about Maple's shenanigans. She is so inventive and simply wild with her newfound abilities that she literally breaks the game and uncovers bugs for the devs to fix.

So basically she's a gaming gremlin, kinda like Myne in Ascendance of a bookworm. Except without drama at all, it's all comedy around edge cases in RPGs.

I'm at episode 3 and it's all fun and laughs.

Kinda wishing I watched season 1 from the beginning.

I give it a 10/10.

Okay, the first episode is solid.

It depicts a "loser" by popular definition, an unattractive, overweight guy who has been bullied all his life by his family and schoolmates.

One day he saves a girl from a bunch of gangsters who were harassing her, only to be beaten up (he survives).

Later he finds a secret room in his own house, something like an attic, where there's a mysterious stone door.

You can guess where this is going.

To cut the story short, he has a bunch of super-powerful weapons and manages to kill a LVL-200 demon, gaining a shitton of experience and lots of skills.

Later his body suffers a transformation, and suddenly he's not only slim and muscular, but also so attractive that girls keep staring at him in school.

To make things even better, the girl whom he saved in the alley back there turns out to be the daughter of the principal of an elite school, who then invites him to join.

All of this sounds pretty great, but was the body transformation really necessary?

I'm more fan of the person who gets a new chance in life, and uses that chance to turn his life around with effort. NOT someone whose life is turned around overnight.

So the premise is solid, but the execution misses a huge opportunity. I would pretty much see a fat, ugly guy go to the elite school, and not only that, see other fat / ugly people in that same elite school. In fact that could be the entire premise of a totally different show.

Was there really a need to turn him into an adonis? No, there wasn't. The goal here would be to help the protagonist find his own worth and self-esteem regardless of what other people think of his physique.

The real cheat skill here was becoming physically attractive.

I give it an initial 6/10. I don't expect the show to get any better.

I decided to take a stab at writing a couple of anime reviews each season. First up is my excessively long review of The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, written for both people who haven't watched the series and those who have. In addition to offering a general (largely spoiler-free) summary and my impressions, I also explain how I think the series should be understood. Final verdict: While not without some faults in writing (I introduce my concept of "two-by-four story-telling) and production quality control, charming on the whole and better than its absurdly long light novel title would indicate.

Finished watching today and I loved every minute of it. The way the various members of Shadow Garden had unique and fun personalities, the various background events that proved that Cid could never truly be a background character, to the amazing end fight where Shadow threatens to blow up the Capitol (He is the good guy, right?)

I kind of wish that they gave us the Shadow Garden white suits that they tease in the OP.

Can't wait for S2!

Finished watching 古見さんは、コミュ症です。( "Komi Can't Communicate") 😺 .

Beautiful anime about social anxiety, perfectly captured with humor and empathy.

I like how the show is not about the main character being forced to "fix" her anxiety, but rather on the others to learn how to communicate and understand her.

It's also the first anime series I watch featuring a diverse LGTBQ+ cast ❤️ .

Bon seemed surprisingly shocked to see March in To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 18 considering he was the one who set up her revival.

Why is Ryuu so dead set on dying in the Colosseum in DanMachi IV Part 2 Episode 8? It seemed less like she wanted to save Bell and more like she wanted to die herself.
