So, I guess buying and using annex.social would be bad manners?

Planning to set up community infrastructure for my corner of #toronto. ( #annextoronto )

I'm thinking it would be enough for us to have:
- a Discourse forum (slow speed, most thoughtful)
- a Mastodon instance (medium speed, most personal)
- a groupchat XMPP server (fast speed, most immediate and ephemeral)

What community infrastructure have you found useful and valuable?
