I don't want something fussy like #Hypothes.is or #Perusall -- am not grading them on these, just want them to be able to read over each other's shoulders. I've used Google docs for text files, but is there an equivalent for PDFs (OCR only I assume)? Thanks for any advice! #teaching #annotation

Wir werden fluoreszenzmikroskopische Aufnahmen annotieren, d.h. die Objekte werden gut abzugrenzen und in ihrer Form sehr ähnlich sein. Deswegen wäre eine teilautomatisierte Annotation hilfreich.

I learned today, that there is an exception to the rule, that the #package name of the #Java #interface needs to follow the interface name of the #D-Bus interface.
There is an @DBusInterfaceName #annotation available, that lets you put your Java interface in any package you like and so adhere to the Java 9 Platform Module System (#JPMS) as well, without causing 'split jar' problems.
Definitely fixed with #release 1.3.1.

Playing around some more with Helixer, a LSTM + HMM for ab initio whole genome #annotation. Just a Docker image, you give it a fasta file, no RNASeq etc.

Annotated GCF_902713615, Scyliorhinus canicula (smaller spotted catshark), a 4.2GB genome. Helixer (on a A100!) ran for 16 hours and produced 27,959 gene models. No repeat-masking.
The NCBI annotation has 27,965 gene models!
Good number, but on the base-level quite different (see gffcompare report)
