I get so excited😍 when I see the 1st butterfly of the year appear here. Some years it’s a Peacock or Small Tortoiseshell enticed from hibernation by warm sunshine in Feb./March.
In 2023 it was on 1st April, a female Orange Tip, feeding on garlic mustard - the first of the Whites to populate this area. It’s of the ‘anthocharis’ tribe, appears to blend with the flower it’s on. Looking forward to many more.
