“Nayaka give to each other, request from each other, expect to get what they ask for, and feel obliged to give what they are asked for. They do not give resources to each other in a calculated, foresighted fashion, with a view to receiving something in return, nor do they make claims for debts.”

Bit annoying, I know, but I am so happy with the four books that just arrived I have to share (haven’t bought books for myself in absolutely ages and ages). As an #anthropologist i am embarrassed to be getting to #TheDawnofEverything so late (i did buy it as an audiobook during Lockdown but, unlike podcasts, it didn’t combine well with kitchen work).
