@fruitcake Yeah, I feel like there is not al lot of fat activism on here. Or at least I haven’t found a whole lot of people who talk about it.

Now that I’m on a path that feels transformative and empowering — I’m and I’m *not* trying to lose weight — I’m full of joy and I’m also grieving the loss of the privileges I had when I was thinner. This brutal, racist, capitalist system was built to protect me-when-I-was-thin. It’s part of aging, too. I’m embarrassed to admit I miss the advantages of thinness and youngness.

I’m angry at these systems. Really fucking angry.

I'm a 2-yr-college prof in US Midwest. I teach first-year comp and co-req. I started teaching writing as a TA in the late 1980s, got a PhD in Rhet/Comp in the 1990s at Purdue. Flailed until I got a CC job then I was home, been almost 20 years.
