As you can see from the reposts, things are not going very well on the journa.host instance. One member was banned for standing against transphobia. The other was banned for "attacking the integrity" of Davidson or someone else. What it tells me is that the hubris of "institutional integrity" (or preserving power) matters more than dignity and human values. This is contrary to journalism and humanity at its best.

In the early days, the Internet seemed as if it would level the playing field. That the distinct and marginalized voices would at long last find a valiant forum for their cogent contributions. When the media couldn't stub them out with hit pieces, they hired them, with the Faustian bargain of sanitizing all that was special. I have seen so much promising talents become feeble toothless shadows of their former selves. Let the lunatics run the asylum, not the establishment.
