The new maintenance phase is a hard listen, but it paints a picture how the spin of "weight stigma bad, but we still need to be allowed to make everyone thin/talk about weight" is playing out. Interestingly NovoNordisk Wegovy is present yet again.
"Doctors Have a New Plan for Fat Kids
Last month the American Academy of Pediatrics released a new set of guidelines for "childhood obesity." We have some comments."

#AntiFatness #stigma
I suppose I should blame myself for being open enough to stay in conversation with someone whose deep #AntiFatness was always showing. I stayed witg it even after I got schooled in my dms on how they think stigma bad, but basically we should still try to be thin.
But to find them post about me being a horrible person just because I asked if they could CW a post about restrictive dieting is next level. Especially since apparently they got hurt I called a restrictive diet restrictive.
@subrealz Also if your agrument is "I don't see race" then I don't even know where to start.
And fat people aren't just some objects that some firms feed shitty food to, that statement in itself is very othering. And the ideas from "risk culture" just further advance #AntiFatness and the false idea that you can tell someones health status by looking at them.
But I do recommend listening to black people on this before you say that anti-fatness and racism don't literally have the same origin.
According to antifatness, the goal of every fat person at all times must be to reduce and launder their fatness as much as possible for the consumption of thin people. Most if not all fat people in antifat cultures are implicitly if not explicitly aware of this. It effects how fat people think, feel, dress, move, speak, breathe, and how, when, where, why, and if they eat.

My parents said all the quiet parts out loud when they were teaching me how fat people ought to dress in public. They'd point out strangers to me as examples. Never wear anything tight enough to show the imprints of a belly button or fat rolls, always wear clothing that creates the impression of a smaller more acceptable body, never wear clothing with food graphics or patterns, and maybe most important of all, always keep your belly hidden.
I can't help but think abt how the 00s fashion revival is gonna effect fat kids and teens. I hated living thru the low rise pants with slightly cropped top era so fucking much as an even slightly chubby kid. Hopefully this time around, there's less severe fatphobia owning the zeitgeist but I know that despite how far we've come, it's not remotely far enough.

Fat bellies are seen and treated as obscene in ways that flat bellies just simply aren't.

For those still trying to "separate the art from the artist", I would like to remind you all that this "artist" is a major #AntiFatness influence in the world.

And I suppose I just needed to voice this because this is the casual #FatStigma or #FatBias they talk about in medicine and public health. These are the real impacts of it, the severity of it. It ruins lives for no good reason.
Just like in mental health this group of people gets to do this unchecked and call it a bias that they are now working on.
Not
Good
Enough.
Public health as risk management is a system of oppression.

I urge anyone interested or to see who funds o*esity medicine researchers in their own countries. It is likely the same who get the most media time and have most influence.
I had a look at the most influential Finnish fat researcher last year. The expert is one of the main writers of our countrys official care guidelines for fatness. Her research is funded by NovoNordisk.
Also the Finnish ED society takes money from NovoNordisk to "fight fat stigma".
Struggling a lot as I have come upon Carpe Jugulum in my sleeptime travels of #Discworld. I did not remember the #antifatness here being this bad.:/ I also find it amazing some people see Agnes as a fat positive character and Terrys depictions of her as positive. They 100% are not. Her entire personality revolves around body size.
Seems that when it comes to fatness, even the best of us tripped on the culturally constructed body ideals of #colonisation and #pathriarchy.

@Szilvia Right.😂 But you see, us fats are exhaling more virus around.🤦♀️
And the best part is that the speculator was the journalist, the expert did shut them down, but they chose to write this speculation out there for the world to see anyway, with a full on "So I heard about a study of maybe perhaps blah blah, can you confirm"-angle. The scientist did not confirm (obviously), but the journalist chose to proudly fly the flag of #AntiFatness anyway.
Now here's something everyBODY should listen to. #FatLiberation #bias #AntiFatness
