Currently I'm writing a simulator of the Antikythera mechanism using the C64. It's a retrocomputing project, simulating a more than 2000 years old mechanism on a 40 years old home computer.

I want to keep it as simple as possible, therefore there is one main mask with a text output of all calculated values.

The input works like a small time machine. You can add or subtract days, weeks, months, years or olympiads.

One main purpose of the ancient Greek Antikythera Mechanism was the prediction of lunar and solar eclipses.

When a solar or lunar eclipse occures, the next one of the same Saros cycle will be after 223 months or 6585 days and 8 hours. This fact was already known in ancient times and is implemented in the Antikythera mechanism.

The video explains how the prediction of eclipses was done using the mechanism.
