Moo Acopalipse by Like Mucus finally here!
aah no, we’re not at that time of the year yet
But it’s still a cause for celebration today!
Mike Lucas’ (@mwl) #ApocalypseMoi is finally in my greedy #AntiLibrary
(or it’s just me that’s greedy and the calibre library is just a long suffering repository 😂)
I wonder whether training an LLM (or other #chatbot) on your #ebook #antilibrary would help you surface books #ToReadNext....

Learned two new words: #tsundoku and #antilibrary and I love the former.
"Tsundoku (積ん読) refers to the phenomenon of acquiring reading materials but letting them pile up in one's home without reading them" (Source: Wikipedia).
Many moons ago someone said, "you have a good library. You should read your books."
Should have escorted the individual by the collar to the door.
Another one said that all the books were oppressive. That was ok--he felt obligated to read them.
Perhaps the worst was someone who said, "Nice collection. Do you have a main area of focus?" Who could reduce an organically growing library aquired over decades to a collection with "a main area of focus"?
I'm soooo much more interested in how book lovers navigate their egos, anxieties, and sense of self when someone comes over and goes, "Oh wow. What a huge library. Have u read all these?" And, then have to say, "no," and that sting of ego-burn comes rushing in. Hearing how people deal w this common situ is way more exciting to me than a new buzzword like "antilibrary: a library of books I haven't read." Str8 up. Books are cool. And, collecting cool books you'll never read is OK. #antilibrary
Of course, I'll not mention that buying a book doesn't mean I'll ever read it.
I have nothing but books on my wishlist, and to quote my wife, "I haven't read any of them from the past five Christmases.
Don't get me started on my Pocket or dev.to reading list.
It's the thought that counts, right? #antilibrary
@Patrick @openculture hat kürzlich einen passenden Artikel verfasst, in dem es um den Sinn geht, sich auch mit ungelesenen Büchern zu umgeben: The Virtue of Owning Books You Haven’t Read: Why Umberto Eco Kept an “Antilibrary” https://www.openculture.com/2022/11/the-virtue-of-owning-books-you-havent-read-why-umberto-eco-kept-an-antilibrary.html

I am so relieved, all this time I thought I had a library, when what I really had was an anti-library. I feel so free now. I can buy books and not feel a whit of guilt. https://www.themarginalian.org/2015/03/24/umberto-eco-antilibrary/ #Freedom #AntiLibrary
I have a strong case of #tsundoku in that I keep stocking my #antilibrary while hardly reading most of it. I'm in awe of my books' potential knowledge.
Consequently, I occasionally find myself forcing my way through a book that I had high hopes of. I read with the intent of gaining and passing on valuable insights.
In this situation it takes guts to read a few pages of a book, decide it doesn't live up to expectations, would be a waste of time to finish, and get rid of it. I recommend it.
