@MarkusZoppelt #KeepassXC + Fortinet + Graylog would be pretty economical and not too complicated for a company that size. Currently making a similar proposal for a company that size now. Plus Fortinet adds #ZTNA (#zerotrust) and #antimalware features to the solution for them.

As far as convincing management vs commercial third party services... I've gotten a lot of validation this week for my pushing to not use them after Lastpass getting hacked, again.

Public #WIFI networks (Shopping Centres, Hotels etc.) are also popular #hacking sites. Coming back from California a few years ago we had a stopover in Honolulu. When I tried to connect my laptop to the hotel #WIFI the #AntiMalware software on the laptop killed the connection before the #VPN could kick in. The reason was because a number of hotel guests had their credit card details stolen while connected. To get a connection I had to tether my laptop to my phone wait for the #VPN to take control.

My non-IT friend asks is there's a "good free antivirus" he could put on his Windows 10 Home PC.

I'm pleasantly surprised, in that he's a Firefox user and has uBlock Origin running, so he's certainly conscious about trying to do things properly.

Nonetheless, I'm still reluctant to suggest he's simply careful.

I've not looked for a good few years, and AVG was always the goto back then. I can rattle off the comparative benefits of various corporate solutions, but home stuff? I'm out of date.

Is there such a thing as a "good free antivirus", or is that the same argument as "good free VPN" - contradiction in terms?

Is Defender good enough on W10 Home?

Or - as I suspect - the only meaningful choices are be careful, or shell out £30ish a year for Sophos Home or similar?
