Hay otra que tampoco está mal, pero consume algo más, sobre 265 a 300 MB de RAM, que es #LXLE. como su nombre indica, tiene el escritorio LXDE y está basada en #Lubuntu. De hecho creo que los que lo han hecho eran algunos que estaban en el ñproyecto de #Lubuntu y querían seguir manteniendo LXDE en vez de LXQt.

Los fondos de escrotorio de #LXLE son muy bonitos.

@Gabytrip1999 Yo probaría primero #antiX porque es más estético, pero si no fuese bien, bajaría un poco más hasta #PuppyLinux, aunque ya se ve más antiguo.

Creo que #PuppyLinux consume menos de 100, no sé si puede estar en torno a los 50 MB de RAM o así.

#antiX 23 is out now. Debian-based, but with no systemd, it preinstalls generally very lightweight software, resulting in a very small footprint, which translates in speed and efficiency in constrained (old, low powered) machines. It's great to have a good time exploring the array of tools (GUI and CLI/TUI) and config options it has. And it's very well suited to have as a live USB distro, with optional data persistence, in a pendrive.

1) TIL that NVidia dropped support for a bunch of Legacy GPUs in their #Linux Drivers, resulting in the need to use "Legacy GPU Drivers"

2) Said "Legacy GPU Drivers" seem to no longer be supported on newer #Debian based distros as (random forum thread) suggests they're chock full of security issues / bugs and a PITA to support

And this is why (I think) I'm stuck at 640x480 in #antiX on an old, but not THAT old Compaq Presario Athlon 64 system :/

1) Cheap #Goldenfir SSD incompatible w/ Compaq Presario Athlon 64 system

#Linux distros unable to boot from or see drive reliably. dmesg output showed ATA Command initialization failures

Same SSD works fine on this system.

2) Presario working OK w/ old WD drive, new #antiX install, res stuck at 640x480 presently but fixable

3) Gave up on vintage PCI Wi-Fi adapter, nothing but trouble. Went with a used travel router to act as Ethernet bridge.

After trying out #antix on an old HP Mini 210 Netbook, I dug out an old and dusty HP Pavilion Slimline previously used by my parents. It's a #32bit Intel Pentium E6500 @ 2.93GHz, 2GB DDR3 1066MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4350 with Windows 7. I did a backup of their personal files and unplugged the HDD. I installed the Samsung #870Evo SSD and decided to install #DebianBookworm #debian12. It went successfully! I just used the i386 CD iso image from the Debian site on the #Ventoy drive. #learninglinux

I find it quite a hassle to not have #systemd on #antixlinux... Are there any easy methods of converting systemd units to sysv init scripts that will work on #antix? Having some trouble installing #Navidrome on Linux without Systemd. #linuxtroubleshooting

I ended up going with KDE again. I like XFCE on laptops but I have pretty much switched to running antiX on all of them now and I'm too used to Plasma on desktop to want to change. #MXLinux #antiX #Linux #KDE

So I realised there's a lot that's incompatible with a 32-bit OS. So I dug around and found out the CPU in the HP MINI 210-1100 is actually 64-bit! So I cloned the Windows recovery and hptools partitions, reformatted (the possibly failing HDD), and reinstalled the 64-bit version of #antixlinux base version with three clean partitions—home, root and swap. Just waiting for sudo apt update and upgrade now... Then I can try installing #YunoHost or #sandstormio

I am doing a week with only a 1 laptop. (frightening, I know lol)

I set up a #ThinkPad T43 with #AntiX for the week. I have a 40GB Hitachi HDD and 2GB of memory to work with. That's plenty of memory for this setup, I have discovered. AntiX idles at 80MB, which helps a ton. lol

I started at midnight (insomnia), and I already feel less stressed. I think this will be good for me. And I also just love this T43. We have been through a lot together. It's like hanging with an old friend.
