Back in 80s and 90s, in #greek #theaters their #programmes weren't just a leaflet but often included the whole text of the play.
In our case, we have something more interesting and sophisthicated. Of course, we can find information about the actors or the bio of the author. The extra here is the study about the historical, economical and social conditions of these times and how the play was born.

Not very literal takes on 'author's vision' but...

Loved Ryusuke Hamaguchi's film 'Drive My Car' (2022). It makes a short story by Haruki Murakami epic by mashing it up with 'Uncle Vanya' by Anton Chekhov.

Also loved the great themes Frank Darabont's 'Shawshank Redemption' (1994) found in a Stephen King short story.

The #RyusukeHamaguchi film #DriveMyCar (2021) brings a multilingual approach to texts by #AntonChekhov. The #ChunyangLin series #茶金 #Gold Leaf (2021) from #Taiwan spotlights the #Hakka language, with dialogue in #Mandarin, #Taiwanese, #Japanese or #English as well. Now the #European series '1899' (2022) does something similar with its story of #international passengers on a trans-Atlantic ship.

The #Netflix series #1899 (2021) has passengers on a trans-Atlantic ship voyage speaking the languages they normally would, too. #ChunyangLin's 2021 series #茶金 #Gold Leaf featured #Hakka as its principal language with dialogue in #Mandarin, #Taiwanese, #Japanese or #English as well.
