Firefox Klar/Focus auf ShiftOS-L, das auf AOSP basiert. Evtl. liegt es an den Privatsphäreeinstellungen, aber das ist nur geraten (gibt es da ggf. nur lokale Zugriffsrechte innerhalb der BRD?). Könnte genauso ein „fehlender“ Google-Dienst sein? (Da kenne ich mich gar nicht aus.)

Why is such a core functionality not integrated in #AOSP?!

I installed #Termux https://termux.dev/ via F-Droid https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.termux/ on my #Android phone and I love this app! Why isn't this a default part of #AOSP?

I installed ssh, git, and go and now I can compile some of my command-line programs! one, a file downloaded, wouldn't work in the browser under wasm (due to xss restrictions), but works great as a command-line program!

Can anyone involved with the #MicroG project comment on whether it is only "partially" open source as some claim? (https://blog.privacyguides.org/2022/04/21/grapheneos-or-calyxos/#update-frequency)

@sebsauvage ben c'est l'occasion de te dire merci pour cette découverte #qksms , dans un pouet précédant. Cette appli fait bien mieux le job que l'appli SMS #AOSP et surtout bien plus light et confidentielle que l'appli Messages de Google.

So, I haven't been around in Android Custom Images lately, but is it finally possible to use a GSI with still passing all the "safety net"-stuff needed for banking and health applications?

I'm stuck at Android 10 and 9 and don't want to a new device just to see them unsupported in a year or so again...

I need a new phone. My #Fairphone3 broke and my son's old Moto G4 is a bit… slow. Wish list:

1. Plain #Android as close to #AOSP as possible (like #AndroidOne) or easy to install custom ROM.
2. Camera with decent optics (a megapixel sensor is useless without a proper lens).
3. Accurate GPS.

Any suggestions?

Jag behöver en ny telefon (sonens gamla Moto G4 från 2016 är lite seg). Kravspec:

1. Så nära #AOSP som möjligt (vanilj #Android), alternativt lätt att installera anpassade ROM.
2. Bra kamera.
3. Bra GPS.

Gillar koncept som #Fairphone men är osäker på om plånboken tillåter det den här gången.

It looks like Google are planning to update their #AAOS testing devices "in few months with new targets" with some new targets.

This is great given the most recent supported device for an #AOSP #AAOS build is the Pixel 5.

@konomikitten it would be more effective to adopt #AOSP or the specific OS you are using rather than trying to grassroots change the marketing that Google has done with Android.

A phone OS with Google services is Android, they've already claimed that label. If you are running a Google-free version of Android you'll need to use a different label to differentiate the two.

Five builds in and it I'm happy to say that #Debian 12 #Bookworm can, after the latest kernel update release, build the #Android from the #AOSP repos without crashing 🎉

@onepict @dentangle My hunch is it would yield better results to try to advocate for crowdfunding a project like #GrapheneOS to get #accessibility changes upstream into #AOSP itself rather than to convince Google to do anything to make #Android better. Lately it seems that they are dropping a lot of their support for it in favor of their own proprietary extensions and apps. #DisabilityPrideMonth

Part of today has been taken up putting together an additional @snappautomotive #CI server for our #AAOS #AOSP builds and our #Android apps. It still blows my mind that these 40 Core / 80 Thread machines with 256GB of RAM cost around 1k GBP.

Personally I find putting the machine together pretty relaxing… right up until I have to power it on 😁
