Time for an update on my #AOTY2023 list, because there has been some activity.

#KingGizzard received a boost and is a serious contender for Metal AOTY.

#Blackbraid entered very high, but is currently not a contender.

#SwarfDamage from Manx is worth a listen.

#MammothWVH migth get a boost soon, because their songs are stuck in my head since my first spin.

Apart from that some good (3,5*) and solid+ (3*) albums have been added.

So far, I like it a lot! The music is exciting, fast and energetic just as I enjoy it. My main objection is that the "northern" theme is a bit meh... the previous album had more of a horror vibe which was more intriguing. Still, a solid #AOTY2023 contender.

Good morning folks.
Just listened to Celestial Rot from All Out War. Entertaining, but nothing stood out after one spin. I bet this is much better live.

Verdict... Difficult to rate, it started great, but the ballad and some other stuff towards the end were turn-offs. I am conflicted. If I give it a 3, it gets the same rating as Twilight Force, although I like their album better. Here's my solution for that problem:

Finally I had time to listen to #Memoriam's new album #RiseToPower. Funny thing, I like Karl Willet's vocals much better on this one than on Bolt Thrower. I still prefer John Tardy style vocals though.
