MEMORIA, like all of Apichatpong Weerasethakul's films, is filled with ghosts--people neither dead nor alive, fabricated like the world itself anew on the screen, and thus liberated (to their awe & terror) from our biologically limited perception of life, space, time. *Stunning*. Weerasethakul knows that aside from injury or illness, art is the closest humans can get to experiencing death while alive; cinema as dissolution of bodily existence.

The latest film from Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul takes place in Colombia and stars Tilda Swinton. Similar to his other films, this is a meditative andthoughtful art film, full of mystery (left unsolved or open to the viewer to interpret), and beautifully staged. Swinton, an orchid specialist, hears an unusual sound and seeks to understand it -- it turns out that she is the only one who hears it.
