Here's one of those large ground-nesting bees I collected the other weekend (there were THOUSANDS of them; I collected four). I believe it's Diadasia bituberculata.

Take a break and look at this sweat bee, chilling on a leaf. Blowing bubbles.

It has really nice pearlescent green stripes.

I think it's a species of Nomia, but bees are not my strong point. Taken at the edge of a forest patch near Kuala Lumpur.

Our largest , the Eastern carpenter ( verginica ssp. virginica) is well-known to those in proximity to outdoor wooden structures. Females carve out long tunnels underneath protected wood, e.g. porch rails, eaves.

Males emerge first in Spring. Territorial, they will fly right at you! Harmless to us.
