The idea just popped in my head. Because of my interest in #DSKY and #NASA, I really want to remaster the A15 Delco journal into a fully digital PDF/A format with full text instead of scans and SVG for all diagrams. Many of the pages in the NASA archive are scanned, not straight, and some scanned with visual deformities. A clean remake of the journal will be better preservation and readability of the documents. #Apollo #Apollo15 #Delco #preservation #history

<<After the event, he described the “unique perspective” he was granted. “I did have a chance to stand up on the outside [of the SM] and look. I could see the Moon and the Earth at the same time. And if you’re on Earth, you can’t do that, and if you’re on the Moon, you can’t do that. It’s a very unique place to be.>> https://www.americaspace.com/2021/08/05/a-very-unique-place-remembering-the-first-deep-space-eva-five-decades-on/ #space #apollo15

Well, the #Moon is in the news at the moment with the #artemis mission. So here's an image i took in May 2021 of the #Appenine mountain range, where #Apollo15 landed. It's taken with a #Meade LX90 200mm f/10 Schmidt Cassegrain telescope from #Poynton, UK. The image was obtained through an IR pass filter with an #AltairAstro 183M fan cooled monochrome #camera. It's fun to do some #astrophotography just as a hobby sometimes, though i don't seem to get much chance to do it.

These white gloves don’t look much but I had to wear them whilst handling the Moon suit worn by James Irwin, Apollo 15. Back in 1998 I was given the rare honour of examining and sketching an Apollo spacesuit from the Smithsonian’s storage facility, just outside Washington. It wasn’t until after I’d finished sketching that I found out whose it belong to. The suit was covered in Moon dust from the knees down which transferred onto the gloves, traces of which can be discerned. #Apollo15 #NASA
