Biggest thing I miss since #ApolloApp shut down is my ‘happy place’ multireddit.
It was only stuff like cute or funny animals, art, photography, etc. And since content in #Reddit communities is (was?) moderated quite rigorously, I *knew* that it would only be happy stuff.
It was a great way to take a break from the world yet still scroll the internet. Sigh.
Boy, for a dead app, #ApolloApp sure is getting an unexpected number of updates..
Using Narwhal after Apollo is really a another level but the official Reddit app is still too bad. #reddit #apolloapp
@kylewritescode @CliffWade @AllThingsTech @ArtemisApp @hariette I know. I'm also seeing people starting to post screenshots of it. I understand it's "coming soon" but it's also not actually available *to me*, and I'm loathe to sign up to any system that has zero mobile clients for it. As I think we've all seen recently, the client plays a huge part in the experience. I did sign up for some kbin instance or other, but I don't even remember which one - fedio or something? - I've never logged into it since, and the only feddit-style thing I've even looked at is Lemmy (through the Memmy app).
I've happily returned to Reddit as of a couple days ago thanks to someone creating a tweak allowing #ApolloApp to use the user's custom API ID instead of it's own. Plenty of subs have reopened and the experience is still super solid even if the content is a little thinner than before. FWIW.
Just tried the “Artemis” tweak and it made it very easy to enter a new client API. Now once again browsing Reddit with Apollo. Works great.
Hopefully the next #ApolloApp release will actually have this functionality built in, little bit more useful than built in wallpapers and coffee mug merch links.

Jailbreakers have figured out a way to enable custom APIs to work with Apollo. Have to go back to a previous Apollo version because the annoying new versions don’t work with the method.
There’s a chunk of additional futzing around to get this to work and I haven’t done it (yet, or maybe never - since the official #Reddit app works perfectly fine) but here’s the tweak.
End of an era. Goodbye #ApolloApp
Anyone got suggestions for a 2x2 #widget to replace it?
Truly a sad iOS dock. Rip Apollo and Tweetbot, two amazing third party apps that have stood as beacons of quality for the community. The internet is truly a worse place without these two pieces of software. #Reddit #ApolloApp
Anyone have a good #memes website? Trying to cut back on #reddit and their shit UI. Horrible on desktop and especially mobile. #apollo #apolloapp #ripapollo

In case you want to keep Apollo app just for its icons, you might want to delete the app and redownload from the App Store to clear the data cache. #RedditMigration #ApolloApp
@christianselig thanks for making #reddit usable with #apolloapp ❤️ I’m sad to see it go but looking forward to what comes next. When people/companies show you what they are, believe them.
It’s sad, watching #ApolloApp go through the shutdown process. I’ve spent more time in that app than any other over the last few years, since its release. It’s the one app I had zero hesitation doing an IAP to upgrade to its most premium version. #Reddit have really screwed this one, and I really hope the investors they hoped to woo for their IPO look carefully at their behaviour, and especially that of their CEO, in this whole matter. Thanks @christianselig, what a great app!
@KirbySSM same, it's gonna be a rough few weeks adjusting, hopefully I don't relapse and download their shitty app. I'm TRYING #Lemmy, but the fact that #Beehaw decided to defederated like 50k users for arbitrary reasons, along with the lack of a replacement #Apollo like app and lack of content, it's been a challenge. I've been using #mastodon a lot more but it lacks the "Doom Scroll" capabilities that #Reddit had gotten me accustomed to. #fediverse #kbin #redditmigration #apolloapp

@ivory Where can we send feature requests?
One of the best features of #Apolloapp was "Share Post As Image."
It composed a preview of the link PLUS the attached comment into an image you could then re-post. Be great if #Ivory could do that (instead of screen capture, crop, send, delete, etc.)
@christianselig Thank you. It's been a good ride. It was the one app I used the most on a daily basis.
Between #Apolloapp and #Tweetbot, it's forced a lot of people to look around for other interesting services (like #Mastodon).
Hopefully, a cautionary tale to all future API providers on how to deal (or not deal) with third-party apps.
