It's sad that as iOS 17 approaches, we still don't have smart albums in the #ApplePhotos app, nor any way to crop and resize photos in the #AppleNotes app.

When I rotate an image and save it in a photo editor, I expect that image to be reprocessed so that other people can view it rotated. I do not expect the photo editor to just add a tag to "rotate 90degrees left" to the file and call it quits. 📷😠

So, I want to get back into (proper) photography (you know, with a real camera), but I’m too cheap to pay for Lightroom. I’m considering using Apple Photos (but store the photos in a separate local library), for editing, management etc. Those that I like, I’ll share online ( @pixelfed ) and put into my primary iCloud library. I suspect an #ApplePhotos library is just an optimized copy of my regular iCloud library. How can I find out if anything else needs to be uploaded or, alternatively, if I can delete it?

@freitag I left Adobe long time ago. When Apple discontinued Aperture I turned to #ApplePhotos for archiving. Now I use Radiant and Luminar as editors and Apple Photos plug-ins.
