Profanity levels are on the rise this afternoon as I try to become someone who enjoys #DIY #ApplianceRepair. The idea of being the one who fixed this dishwasher is appealing to me, but GE is making it very difficult to keep my cool ๐
Surely this can't be just my problem. (Don't call me Shirley). The screws holding my dishwasher to the underside of the counter go into particle board. A few times they've come out and the lower rack has scooted across the kitchen floor. Exciting! Now, thanks to Gorilla glue and a slender length of smooth plywood, the screws can get a good grab. Well, that's the theory. We'll see.

@enobacon So in theory the circuit boards and components are all potted (a layer of epoxy or something covering everything, making them waterproof; you can see the circuit board is shiny & reflective, and bubbles in the glue where the connector meets the board).

It occurs to me that an instance devoted to advertising, more or less only, could be a good thing.
Careful hashtagging, some sort of accountability (yeah, handwaving a lot here) and it might be actually *useful* as in classified ads for services and goods, minus the bullshit of sneaking them in front of people when they can't avoid them.
Pretty much all of us search the web for this. Hashtag-driven #applianceRepair #losAngeles might be useful.
I think I spent about $200 total.
I think a new stove is about $1,000 currently.
I say it's worth it.
Keeps it out of the landfill.
After 3 parts (2 of which were correct), several weeks, and some video watching our oven can now reach a desired temperature in 12 or so minutes instead of about 60 or more.
The troubleshooting tree:
1) temperature sensor, nope
2) igniter, yep
I bought the wrong igniter but didn't know it until I removed it. I was gonna order on amazon. Local place had it for about $30 more. Saved a week wait
Now I'm contemplating "fixing" the range spark/ignition problems.

Tuesday is #ApplianceRepair day. Dryer heating elements are kind of like Christmas lights: one ring goes out, they all go out! The machine had saved up 81ยข toward the repair cost all on its own! Replacement on order, due here next week.#diy #repair
